As of the 1 December 2020 the rules for visas for short-term study have changed. Short-term Study visas are now only for students taking an English language programme of between 6-11 months. Anyone else needing to study for 6 months or less in the UK will now be able to do so on a Standard Visitor visa
 

This includes the following:

  • Students taking a programme of study of 6 months or less
  • Students taking electives
  • Study Abroad students
  • Undertaking a period of research
  • Retaking modules and resitting exams
  • Distance learning
  • Taking a viva

Important to know: Please note this only applies to students needing a new visa after 1 December. Those who are currently on a Short-term Study visa obtained before 1 December will be able to continue normally under the same conditions and do not need to apply for a new visa.
