Once your Student visa application is approved, you'll receive a temporary short-term travel entry vignette (visa sticker) in your passport. Your entry vignette is valid for 90 days and allows you to travel and enter the UK during the 90-day validity dates. You must enter the UK during the validity of your travel vignette to be eligible to enrol at King’s.

Important to know: Please ensure that your visa has been granted and is valid before you travel to the UK.

Entering via the e-gates

If you are eligible to enter the UK border using an electronic gate (e-gates), you will need to keep evidence of the date you arrived in the UK, such as a flight ticket or boarding pass. You must provide this as part of your enrolment (the Right to Study check) and to be eligible to enrol at King's.

Students need to collect their BRP within 10 days of arrival in the UK or before the expiry of their short-term travel vignette, whichever is later.

Important to know: You will not face any penalties if you are unable to collect your BRP within 10 days of arrival in the UK as a result of a production issue.

How you will receive your BRP card will depend on several factors. Please read through the guidance relevant to you below. If you are unsure about location, please refer to the Student visa decision email or letter sent to you by UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI).

You have applied for your Student visa from outside the UK and on your Student visa application, you have chosen to collect your BRP from King’s.

Your BRP card will be delivered to King's College London by UKVI (UK Visas & Immigration) approximately 2-3 weeks after your entry to the UK.

Once King's receives your BRP, we will contact you by email inviting you to book an appointment to come and collect your BRP. The email will have a link to book your appointment to collect your BRP and instructions on where to go and what to bring with you. You must bring your valid passport with you to the appointment to be able to collect your BRP.

You can only collect your BRP by booking an appointment.

Important to know: you should not book your BRP card collection appointment using a link provided to another student, as you will not be able to collect your card.

Important to know: King’s immigration sponsor responsibilities require us to perform a number of checks and processes on the BRPs before we can release them to you. You may have received confirmation of the BRP card delivery to King’s from the courier (TNT), but you must wait to receive a further invitation from King’s which enables you to book a slot to collect your BRP card on campus.

You have applied for your Student visa from outside the UK and on your Student visa application, you have chosen to collect your BRP card from a post office

If you have applied for your Student visa from outside the UK and on your visa application, you have chosen to collect your BRP card from a post office, then you should go to the named post office branch to collect your BRP card. (If you are unsure which post office you selected, this will be stated on your decision letter from the UKVI).

Please note that if you have selected to collect your BRP from a Post Office, then King’s will not be involved in processing or holding your BRP. However, you will need to make sure that King’s receives a valid copy of your new BRP, both front and back, either through the RTS task or by email to visa-reg@kcl.ac.uk

Important to know: if you are under the age of 18 you must be accompanied by a nominated person over the age of 18 to attend the Post Office with you. Please note the person you nominate must be approved in advance by the Home Office, which may take up to five days. You can nominate a person on the biometric residence permit service.

You have applied for your Student visa from inside the UK

If you have applied for your Student visa from inside the UK, then please be aware that your BRP card will be delivered directly to your correspondence address as provided in your visa application form.

Important to know: King’s College London will not be involved in your BRP card delivery process.
