I need help my money, budgeting or funding
What do I do if my bursary is wrong?
Whilst some current students are still receiving bursary funding to complete their studies, the NHS Business Services Authority is no longer offering student bursaries to new applicants.
If you are in receipt of an NHS Bursary award and have a query about your bursary support, please get in touch with the NHS Business Services Authority Bursaries team; if they tell you that the dates of your award are the dates given by the university, please contact the Programmes Team by submitting an online enquiry form.

My next steps after graduating
How can I get a reference?
Once you complete your studies, you will have access to your Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) and transcript on Gradintel.
If you need a transcript with extra detail, please check I need a specialised transcript for my course for details.
If you need a character or academic reference, please check out our article How can I get an academic/personal reference?
How do I register with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC)?
Once your degree award has been confirmed and you have submitted the relevant paperwork, your details will be uploaded to the NMC.
The Programme Lead will sign these off, and then you will receive a letter from the NMC confirming next steps.
- This will include setting up an NMC online account and paying a registration fee.
- You will also need to declare any police cautions or criminal convictions.
Once this is processed by the NMC, you will be able to download and print your statement of entry and potential employers can search for you on the online register.
You can also find more information about registering at NMC: Register as a nurse or midwife if you trained in the UK.
