This article applies to Postgraduate Research students only.
Students who are completing their doctoral studies at King's are required to complete formal progress monitoring at regular intervals — every three or six months, depending on their Faculty. This structured process supports timely and successful completion of a research degree and complements other formal doctoral milestones such as:
Submission of progress reports at regular intervals (every 6 months minimum)
The upgrade from MPhil to PhD status
Submission of thesis
The progress reporting process is designed to enable doctoral students and their supervisory team to set the targets and objectives required to successfully complete a research degree, and to regularly monitor progression towards completion of the research degree.
Progress reporting is completed by the student, the supervisor, and the relevant doctoral student coordinator (sometimes known as the Research Coordinator, Thesis Committee Chair, or PARC Chair) via the King's online progress reporting system. This system allows each party to log in, complete their relevant sections, and submit.
This mandatory process is carried out via submission of an electronic form, which enables your student and the supervisory team to set targets and objectives required for successful completion of the PhD and to monitor student progress towards completion within the prescribed time frame.
The online submission is not intended to replace face to face progress review meetings, but it enables your student and the supervisory team to simply and effectively record and monitor progress.
The online form is completed via Student Records.
There are give main stages of the online reporting process as follows:
Student Stage: to be completed by the students
Supervisor stage: to be completed by the first supervisor. You will be prompted with an automated email when your student has completed their section.
Student Sign Off Stage: to be completed by the student
Coordinator Stage: to be completed by the PGC
