Venio is a new attendance and engagement monitoring tool used at King’s by some faculties to register attendance at timetabled teaching – think of it as a digital register. It also allows us to spot where you may have missed teaching repeatedly and need additional support from your personal tutor or department.
At this stage, only certain programmes within faculties are required to use Venio. Check the list of participating programmes below to see if yours is one of them.
Even if your programme is not listed below, you may still need to use Venio to register your attendance if you have modules that are delivered by faculties that are using it.
Before using Venio, make sure you read the below step-by-step guide. You can also watch a video tutorial if you'd prefer.
1. Log in to Venio: Log in using your mobile device or laptop by visiting venio.kcl.ac.uk/login and use your King's credentials to access the system. Your username is your King's ID (K number) followed by kcl.ac.uk.
2. Input the code: During your timetabled activity, your lecturer or teaching assistant will display a code that you need to add into the Code box (image below). You will need to submit this in order to register your attendance. The code changes every 30 seconds, and you can only log your attendance once a session is active.
3. Click ‘Attend’ to register: Once you have entered the code, click ‘Attend’. A green tick will appear next to this activity to confirm your attendance has been logged successfully.
There are six faculties currently using Venio but not all programmes within those faculties are using it. The list below shows which programmes are using Venio. Even if your programme is not listed below, you may still need to use Venio to register your attendance if you have modules that are delivered by faculties that are using it.

Please contact your lecturer or programme team and they will be able to log your attendance.
The article Contacting & visiting your faculty and department explains how you can contact your faculty or department for in-person or online support.
Your lecturer or programme team know and they will log your attendance.
Log in to Venio after the session and select the reason for your absence from the drop-down list that will appear next to the activity.
Inform your lecturer or Programme Manager and they will be able to log attendance.
If you are unable to attend a session, please do not worry. Once you attend your next session and register your attendance, the records will update.
Please note that you should still notify your department about any prolonged absences.
Consistent or long-term non-attendance will result in your department or personal tutor reaching out to ensure that you are ok and to identify ways to support their engagement going forward.
Try re-entering the pin code and if you are still unable to submit the code, let your lecturer know so they can manually log your attendance. If you require technical support, please report this via the support link in the Venio app, or alternatively submit a Venio Enquiry via Helix.
To log any issues with the system such as access, please report this via the support link in the Venio app, or alternatively submit a Venio Enquiry via Helix. If you have any questions or need further clarification about the new process, please ask your personal tutor or department programme teams.
iPhones, iPads and Mac laptops are completely fine for students to use for Venio.
Important to know: Macs using Safari don’t fully support Venio features, so we strongly recommend using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on a Mac for the best experience.
- Make sure that your device is updated to the latest version.
Check that the clock on your device is correct. If your time or time zone is incorrect, this might interfere with how Venio works.
If you find you can't access Venio because the page won’t load properly, then try the following:
- Open another King’s page that requires your Single Sign On log-in details (this can be KEATS or your ‘My services’ page on Student Services Online)
- If you are prompted to log-in, then do so.
- Now go back to Venio and it should load properly.
This issue can occur when your Single Sign On and Venio get out of sync. A long-term fix is being explored, but the steps above can usually help to resolve this.
