Can I transfer to a different group?
Students are allocated to groups based on:
your timetable
available places in each class.
If the group you've been allocated isn't suitable, please let us know as soon as possible. We'll do our best to accommodate your request, but transfers can't be guaranteed.
Important to know:
If you wish to transfer your Language Module or Postgraduate-Only course, please visit the relevant KEATS page and complete the transfer request form:
Transfer requests must be submitted by 17.00 on the Friday of the second week of teaching in the first (or only) semester.
After this deadline, we'll only consider a module/group transfer if:
there is an academic timetable clash with all available groups
there are exceptional circumstances. Employment commitments and workload aren't considered exceptional circumstances.
If you're requesting a transfer because of an academic timetable clash, you'll need to provide evidence, such as a screenshot of your timetable.
What if the course I am enrolled on is too easy or too difficult?
We allocate students to classes using the information provided on the registration form and, where applicable, the results of the online assessment test.
If you feel that your class level isn't suitable, you should speak to your teacher after your first lesson. They'll be able to discuss your progress and advise whether a different level would be more appropriate.
Important to know:
Level changes can only be processed when recommended or approved by your teacher.
If your teacher agrees that a different level would be more suitable, they'll submit a recommendation to the Language Centre on your behalf.
We'll transfer you to the recommended class if:
there is a space available.
there isn't a timetable clash with your other classes.
A transfer can't be guaranteed and will depend on availability.
I want to withdraw from the module, what should I do?
If you no longer wish to study a module or postgraduate-only course, please visit the relevant KEATS page and complete the withdrawal request form:
Important to know:
You must submit your withdrawal request by 17.00 on the Friday of the second week of teaching in the first (or only) semester.
You can't withdraw from a Language Centre module through your department or by notifying your teacher. All withdrawal requests must be submitted to the Language Centre.
If your department has an earlier withdrawal deadline, you'll need to follow your department's deadline.
After this deadline, we'll only consider withdrawal requests in any of the following circumstances:
You're taking the module Not For Award (paying a fee to take the module separately from your main programme of study). If you're studying Not For Award, different withdrawal and refund conditions may apply. You can visit the Policy Hub for more information on Terms & Conditions.
You're taking a 15-credit module in addition to your required credits for the academic year.
There is an academic timetable clash with all available groups. If you're requesting a withdrawal because of an academic timetable clash, you'll need to provide evidence, such as a screenshot of your timetable.
There are exceptional circumstances. Employment commitments and workload aren't considered exceptional circumstances.
Withdrawal requests submitted after the deadline aren't guaranteed to be approved.
If I am unable to attend a lesson, can I go to a different class?
No. You can only attend the module and group you've been registered for.
If you're unable to attend a lesson, please contact your teacher. They'll be able to provide information about any course content, materials or activities you may have missed.
