There has been recent high profile news reports of sexual violence against multiple Chinese nationals, by a student based at another London university. We are aware this may have impacted individuals within our King’s Community, either directly or indirectly through news reports. The Metropolitan Police considers this to be a very serious matter and continues to carry out investigations of these cases; the individual concerned will receive a criminal sentence next month.
The University is here to support anyone affected, either directly or indirectly. If you have concerns or need help or advice, there is a range of services for you, both at King’s and from external specialist services such as the NHS, including those offering Mandarin-speaking support.
1. Support at King’s
Report + Support
Report + Support is a King’s internal platform for reporting bullying, harassment, hate incidents or sexual or physical violence. Whether you have experienced or witnessed inappropriate behaviour, you can report it to the University to discuss options for support and possible action, and access support information about specialist services.

Report + Support has a dedicated section on spiking, which is an act when someone puts alcohol or drugs into another person's drink or body without their consent or knowledge. Spiking is an assault and a serious crime.

Student Counselling & Mental Health Support
Counselling & Mental Health Support offers free and confidential counselling support for students. Counselling offers a safe, confidential and supportive space, to help you explore your problems, share and gain insight into your feelings, thoughts and behaviour.
There are Mandarin-speaking counsellors on the team and students can say that they would prefer to talk to a Mandarin speaker when applying for support.
Counselling & Mental Health Support also have a specialist Health Advisor for Mandarin Speaking Students, with whom students can book a 1-2-1 appointment for support with understanding and accessing University, NHS and other resources available. Support for Domestic and Sexual Violence
If you have witnessed or experienced sexual violence, or domestic abuse, either in the past or while at King’s, you are not alone. Support is available.
Our Specialist Domestic and Sexual Violence Adviser can provide confidential, non-judgemental support to any student affected by sexual violence or abuse. We can help with risk assessments, safety planning, and advocacy within the university and with external services (such as the police). We will talk through your options with you and support you in deciding what feels right.

Student Wellbeing Team
The Wellbeing team is available to support students’ general wellbeing needs throughout their time at King’s. Our Advisors can work with you to help identify your challenges and to find the best routes through these. The team work closely with your Faculty so they can support queries specific to your programme of study and any worries you have about your academics.

2. NHS Specialist Support
Sexual Assault Referral Centres – The Havens
Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs) are an NHS specialist service that provide confidential medical, practical, and emotional support to people who have recently been raped or sexually assaulted.
In London, SARCs are run by the Havens, with three centres covering the whole city. They provide comprehensive, immediate and aftercare services that include forensic, medical, anonymous police reporting, mental health therapies and Independent Sexual Violence Advisor support.

NHS Mandarin-speaking Talking Therapies via King’s College NHS Health Centre (GP)
If you are a registered patient at King’s College Health Centre (GP), you can ask to be referred to the NHS Mandarin-speaking Talking Therapies Service. From the initial phone triage to talking therapies, all provision is conducted by Mandarin-speaking NHS clinicians ensuring that you do not have to worry about language issues, as well as feeling confident that the support provided will understand any culturally sensitive concerns you may have.

3. Contacting the Police to assist with investigations
There are currently two investigations which the Metropolitan Police are pursuing.
1. The Police are appealing for anyone with information relating to Chao Xu, who has pleaded guilty to a number of sexual offences and is due to be sentenced in November.
Anyone who thinks that they may have been a victim, or who may have any information regarding the perpetrator, can contact the police by:
• Submitting information via the Major Incident Public Portal:

o Cantonese portal
• Calling the police on 101 or emailing operation.kafka@met.police.uk quoting reference 01/7563135/25
2. The Police are also appealing for information regarding Zhenhao Zuo, who was convicted of a series of sexual offences in the UK and in China between 2019 and 2024. The police investigation remains ongoing as they believe there might be more victims.
Anyone who thinks they may have been a victim, or who may have any information regarding the perpetrator, can contact the Police by:
