NMES: Your feedback in action – 'Closing the loop'

You said: Your marks and feedback weren’t being returned on time.

We did: We introduced assessment trackers across the Faculty and improved monitoring to help make sure deadlines are met.

The result: We’ve seen significant improvements in feedback being returned on time.

What’s next? We’ll continue to work towards assessed work being returned to students with marks and feedback on time. We also recognise the importance of having confidence in your assessments and will continue to work on improving the clarity of assessment briefs and transparency of marking criteria.

You said: Your programme wasn’t well organised or managed.

We did: We introduced simplified programme rules, improved communication through targeted student bulletins and streamlined mark processing.

The result: These changes have helped provide clearer information, faster responses to student queries, regular fortnightly updates from Programme Directors and reduced delays in the release of summer exam results.

What’s next? We’ll continue to review how important programme information is provided to you and look for ways to improve communication. We’ll also continue to work with the Timetabling team to reduce clashes and minimise changes.

You said: We need to work more closely in partnership with our students.

We did: We created Director of Student Experience roles, held focus groups, met directly with students, supported a range of student activities and developed action plans in response to student feedback and suggestions.

The result: We’ve continued to strengthen opportunities for students to share their views and help make sure feedback leads to positive change.

What’s next? We’ll continue to create opportunities to work with students to enhance education and the student experience. This includes supporting student societies and creating opportunities for postgraduate taught students to develop their skills and engage with careers activities.
