As a University our role is to offer a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for all our students, staff and visitors. We also support, promote and safeguard academic freedom and freedom of speech within the law.
We support our students and staff to exercise their right to take part in protests and demonstrations and expect them to do so peacefully and with consideration for others. See our Protest and demonstration guidelines.
Protests and demonstrations are common in London. When a protest or demonstration takes place in a public space near our campuses like the pedestrianised area between the Strand and Bush House, it is outside of the University’s jurisdiction.
Whatever is happening on or near our campuses, we want our students, staff and visitors to feel safe and supported.
