The Health and Safety induction is a training course designed to help you become familiar with King’s health and safety arrangements. It covers various aspects of health and safety at King’s and introduces you to steps you can take to look after yourself and others. 

Important to know: completing the Health and Safety induction is mandatory for all undergraduate and taught postgraduate students. Postgraduate research students must complete the staff Health and Safety induction, which will be automatically assigned. You can find out how to complete this on Workrite e-learning.

How can I access the course? 

King’s uses a system called Ideagen Workplace Training (often referred to as ‘WorkRite’) to host e-learning courses. This e-learning platform hosts courses that provide important information that students need to know when they’re studying at King’s. 

To access the course on WorkRite, you’ll need to follow the steps below: 

Student Records

  1. Log in using the link in the ‘My training’ section in Student Records https://mykcl.kcl.ac.uk/

  2. On the ‘Pre-log-in Questionnaire’ page, scroll to the bottom of the list and click ‘Continue’ (If you would like to do additional courses, you can click the box next to the courses you’re interested in before clicking ‘Continue’).

  3. On the Workplace Training home page, click ‘E-Learning Courses’ to move to your training dashboard. This shows all your courses: mandatory courses automatically assigned, as well as any optional courses you may have chosen via the pre-login questionnaire.

  4. To see just your mandatory courses, click on ‘Mandatory Courses’. You should see the ‘Student Health and Safety Induction’ course; click on this to begin.

  5. Once you’ve completed the course, you’ll need to take the test. This is designed to help you retain important information from the course. Once you’re finished, you can then print a certificate if you wish, and exit Workplace Training.

  6. Log in to Student Records and fill in the brief ‘My Training’ section to provide confirmation that you’ve completed the course.
